Specialized Creative Writing Coaching for Kids
Welcome! I’m Lorrie Holmes, founder of Kids News & Reviews and Creative Director of Selling While Storytelling, and I’m excited to offer a one-of-a-kind creative writing coaching program for kids who are ready to take their writing to the next level. As the founder of Kids News and Reviews and a professional writer with years of mentoring experience, I’ve helped countless young writers find their voice and build confidence in their craft. Now, I’m offering specialized, project-based coaching that not only nurtures creativity but also builds a strong, professional portfolio that can help young writers break into their careers.

Our Coaching Projects Include

1. Kids News & Reviews Collaboration
Young writers will have the chance to collaborate on a real issue of Kids News & Reviews, which is printed and mailed to each young writer. They will create their own content for the issue, and their photo and bio will be included—perfect for their professional portfolio. This project gives kids a tangible piece of work to showcase and helps them understand the publishing world in a hands-on way.
2. Book Publishing for Kids
Does your child dream of becoming an author? Through this mentoring program, young writers will be guided step-by-step as they create their own book—whether it’s a junior novel, graphic novel, poetry anthology, or even a non-fiction book about their passions, talents, or unique experiences. The book will be professionally edited, designed, and published on Amazon or another platform of choice. Plus, we’ll create a book trailer and provide media publicity services to help them gain attention. This project is a fantastic way to build a strong, publishable portfolio that can serve as a launchpad for a writing career.

3. Benefit Song Creation
For young songwriters, this project provides the opportunity to collaborate on writing a benefit song for a charity of choice. Each participant will contribute to the song’s lyrics, melody, and possibly vocals or instrumentals. After the song is professionally arranged and packaged, it will be donated to the chosen charity, and a blog post will profile both the song and the charity. It’s a creative, impactful way for kids to use their talent to make a difference while also creating a professional piece of work to add to their portfolio.
