For me, Christmas is a magical time that happens once a year, when we can come together, from every diverse corner of the world, and share our love with each other – and never stay separated.
Rainbow Mosho, Author/Artist
We are so excited to be ending our year with a beautiful story filled with inspiration, hope, and colour during these lingering times of uncertainty. Who better to help us with all of this than thirteen year old author/artist, Rainbow Mosho who believes in hope, magic, and miracles and is fuelled with a purpose of helping other’s find out who they are and what their mission is in life.
Today, we are celebrating the light in the world and the hope that it represents through all the colours of the rainbow. These are illustrated beautifully to us through the meaningful words and other forms of expression by this very special teen author and artist. When asked what Christmas means to her, Rainbow answers, “It means coming together with my family and showing how grateful we are to have the love of one another no matter what, through all the highs and the lows.”
We chose to feature Rainbow Mosho for the holiday season because of what she stands for and what she has to share: kindness, inspiration, creativity, love, and hope. You can find it in her art. You can find it in her writing. You can also find it in all of her books including her title, Rainbow Rabbit Meets Oracle The Alphabet Creature. Although it’s not her latest book, we have chosen to focus on this title today because of what it represents. Communication. As an artist with Autism, it is so incredibly inspiring that Rainbow has created her very own way to communicate with her family. She does this through art which is so revealing to her family and provides so many clues as to what Rainbow is thinking about and feeling. Her artwork has been a very special bridge of communication and she has expanded upon this by creating her very own function of the alphabet, using the traditional letters from A to Z and adding some fun alliteration and combinations of characters. You can learn all about it by watching her podcast episode below!
As you watch, you cannot help but be inspired by Rainbow’s mom, Yadira, who is definitely her rock. Yadira can be found at Rainbow’s side through each step of her development. Here she remains, with her calm and loving, yet strong and stable demeanour, and she guides and cares for Rainbow, and challenges and inspires her to dare to dream and spread her rainbow wings.
There are situations where art is the key for us, her family and friends, to fully understand what she is thinking. It keeps us in awe, because what she is making is very special, very deep, and purposeful.
