Are you looking for a fun playlist of songs about love & kindness to use in your classroom this Valentine’s Day?
by Lorrie Holmes
Let’s start with the babies and work our way up to the preschoolers! As an early childhood educator and early learning music teacher, I’m so excited to be sharing with you a song that I wrote from my heart for my own daughter when she was a baby.
This is a very special two-part song that I used in my own classes. One version of this song starts with babies and the second part grows into the concepts for toddlers and preschoolers to practice. Next, I’ve included a list of five song recommendations that I used time and again in my own music classes.
This Two-Part Song Introduces Self Love To Babies, Toddlers and Preschoolers!
Here is my very first song that I am sharing as a Teacher’s Resource for all my fellow early childhood educators and other caregivers including nannies, and of course, number one – parents!
This is a two-part song about self love. The reason it is two parts is because I originally began singing it to my daughter when she was a baby. That version is called, I Love You, as I shared these sentiments of love with her. As she grew, I changed the lyrics to, I Love Me, so she could sing along and take in these words about loving herself.
I have included the xylophone notes for anyone to play along – including kids! I’ve colour coded them to the notes in case the colours are different on your xylophone. Of course, you can also play this melody on any pitch instrument! I’ve also included the chords for ukulele and they can be used on guitar and even the keyboard or piano if you are lucky enough to have access to one in the classroom, or at home if you are enjoying these songs as a parent or other caregiver from home.
Hope you all enjoy this two-part song! Please DM me about your musical experiences with this song onInstagram if you’d like me to share! Also, if you’re looking for some extra fun ideas for your next preschool music class check out this story for 14 fresh PreK music ideas!

These songs are not rated in any particular order – they are listed by categories of activities.
All Littles love Danny Go! who has a growing playlist of fun filled songs that are perfect for Music & Movement in a preschool. This song is no exception and although it’s not as action packed as most of his songs, the kiddos will have so much fun moving and grooving as they sway to their love stricken Danny Go! The best part of this song is the many different examples of what love means and how you can show it!
Jack Hartmann’s channel is always my first go-to for freeze dances and action based fun songs for both boys and girls in preschool. They are action packed and have a lot of sweet humour. This one is no exception and is a feel good song to share with friends on Valentine’s Day.
What a perfect scarf dance song for the boys & girls in PreK this Valentine’s Day! They will love twirling, swirling and swaying all around with their friends as they listen to these words and even watch the screen in the background. I would definitely turn off the lights in the classroom and set the mood to this song if it’s an option. So sweet and what a perfect message about unconditional love for the kids!
This song is great for teaching your kiddos how to spell HEART which they are all familiar with from the popular BINGO song, while also teaching them the meaning of Valentine’s Day! It’s also great for Call & Response as they need to use active listening to know when to clap out the letters together while all keeping the time of the tune!
Our second choice is also a song by The Kiboomers and this one is a fun counting song the children can do together in music class or at Circle Time while learning more about love, kindness, and Valentine’s Day.
This song is a perfect repeat after me song to use during Circle Time and also as a warm up in Music & Movement class with your littles! The music is fun and upbeat and the video is well reserved by children who have fun following along to this high energy tune.
I have chosen this song as it’s a fun way for children to pretend they are all little Valentines to be sent to a loved one. They have so much fun acting this out while singing along effortlessly to a the familiar tune of I’m A Little Teapot.
I absolutely love this song and use it often when I want to focus on kindness in the classroom with the littles. I’ll play this and have them sing along and then talk to them about what kindness means to each of them. It works really well for me!
What a beautiful concept – how each friendship starts with a seed and needs to be nurtured to grow! Stay tuned for our friendship garden this spring which will be completely inspired by this song! Can’t wait to start a conversation with the kiddos about the different kinds of friendship seeds they can think up!
This song is perfect to start with toddlers and expand to preschoolers. Miss Nina offers a sweet melody with a message that is reinforced by signing. Check out her channel for lots of fun and sweet Early Music & Literacy songs for Circle Time.
