MOVIE REVIEW, A WRINKLE IN TIME

WRITTEN BY MOVIE REVIEWER, Kennedy, Grade 7 Student

My name is Kennedy and I am twelve years old. I live in Delta with my mom, dad and brother. In my free time I like to dance, read and write. I  dance ballet, jazz, modern and lyrical three times a week. I’m very excited to be writing movie reviews for KiDS NEWS & REViEWS! Thats a little bit about me!

A WRINKLE IN TIME

A Wrinkle In Time is about a girl named Meg Murray who goes on an adventure in time with her brother and friend Calvin to try and save her father, who has been missing for four years. Her father was a scientist who was interested in learning about time travel and different dimensions. Along the way they travel through many different dimensions and meet many new friends and enemies. I think Meg is a hero because she is willing to do anything to save the people she loves. Although she is unsure what she has to do to find her father she is determined to save him. The movie was very exciting and there was never a dull moment. The lands that they visited out in space were beautiful and detailed and the characters were relatable and unique. Because of that I would not change anything about A Wrinkle In Time. My favourite character in A Wrinkle In was probably Meg because she was loving and brave throughout the whole movie. Overall I thought A Wrinkle In Time was an amazing movie about a hero and I would definitely recommend it.

COMIC STRIP SERIES

Hi. My name is Parker and I am the author and illustrator of a brand new comic series called, Unlikely Heroes, that will be published regularly in KiDS NEWS & REViEWS. I am 10 and a half years old and I play football and soccer. I have a dog named Kona and she plays with me. I also have a sister named Kennedy and we live with my mom and dad. That’s a little about me! My first comic strip  is about a cat that saves a bird.

MEET OUR 1ST EVER EVERYDAY HERO

Written by LORRIE HOLMES

For the launch of KiDS NEWS & REViEWS, we have created our editorial lineup around the theme of The Everyday Hero. We did so because it’s empowering. It focuses on selflessness, bravery, and respect. On doing things for the sole purpose of helping others while not expecting anything in return. Our mandate is to focus on what we have to offer our society instead of what is lacking. These are all the things we want our children to think about. As the editor and parent of KiDS NEWS & REViEWS, I’m wanting to keep our children’s voices proactive. Focusing them on what can be gained if they share their communication with each other, and with us adults – as both teachers and caregivers. Regardless of their ideas, thoughts and emotions, I encourage our kids to share them all. To fully express themselves by coming up with their own opinions and solutions. Not unlike us adults, kids also want to feel heard and understood. So let’s encourage them to lend us their voices, and even their hearts if we’re really lucky! As children write the content here, they will speak directly to each other. As editor, I am thrilled to work with them on shaping their stories to be emotionally intelligent, inspiring and honest. This will hopefully open up a whole new world of communication for them – and even for us adults – to help us better guide our youth in our ever changing world.
